Pupdate

Yes, yes, I know, I have been neglecting my blog again, but there's only so much a Queen can do between naps and eating.

We had an exciting visitor a few weeks ago.  The world-famous Iditarod Musher Karen Ramstead came to stay at my house.  I was very excited to see her, despite that fact that she misspelled my name on an autograph picture of her and her team of Pretty Sled Dogs.

I was all set to let bygones be bygones until she sat me down and had a little talk with me about my fluffiness.

You've let yourself go a bit, Meeshka
Of course I was angry at the time... I mean seriously?  I'm the Queen!  I can do what I want, and if I want to be big and blobby, then I'll be big and blobby! What do you mean diet?  I will get a cookie when I want a cookie!

Of course, she is absolutely right.  I've been in a bit of a slump recently.  I think it hit me when I turned 11 and realized that my dream of winning Westminster wasn't going to be, and for some reason my modeling career just didn't take off.  I may have binged a bit in the past few years, not skittered as much as I should, and have pretty much allowed the suck-up Mutatoe to do most of the work around the house.

I even admit that I haven't even done a lot of Human Woman clawing, which is the mainstay of my exercise routine.  Having a chance to sit down with Karen and discuss things, learning that just because you are getting a bit older, that doesn't mean you have to just let yourself go and be a fluffy blob.

I immediately demanded that the Human Woman feed me less, and give me more nutritional treats.  I've been trying to get back into shape by sensible clawing and chasing the Human Woman.  I've even restarted my morning routine of attacking her when she tries to snooze the alarm.  I'm taking it slowly, I don't want to pull a muscle, but I think I'm back on track to getting my svelte girlie figure back.

Of course, before starting a new exercise routine, it's best to get to the vet and get a check-up to make sure I was ok to start my new routine.  I have to admit that I wasn't too keen to get in the truck.  The last time I got in the truck to the vet, they put me out, clipped my nails and cleaned my teeth.  Then two weeks later I went back in and they ripped out my po-po... then when I went back they ripped out the po-po stitches.  The vet and the truck ride are not my favorite thing right now.

One of the good things about being overweight is that when I refused to jump into the truck, the Human Woman couldn't pick me up.
This allowed me to skitter about, sniff some interesting grass, and then at my own leisure, and once the Human Woman was covered in sweat and about to get frantic... jump into the truck.  She didn't seem to laugh at my little trick.

Now, I know the routine, I go to the vet, they steal my blood and want some of my poo... so  I kindly made a poo deposit right in front of the clinic.  Hey, that's why they have the little bag container and trash bin right there... right?  They want fresh, there's your fresh poo.

I got the usual poking, jabbed, nail clipping, and a finger up my po-po to make sure no oogie things were trying to grow back (there weren't any) and then back home we went.  Apparently I get to have three of the tasty "creaky bones" that Spineless blah blah blah Sam gets because I'm getting older, but the vet gave me the OK to resume my clawing and skittering.

So, that's all good... and in other news, Mutatoe was attacked by a curtain and got his ample ass kicked yet again.

New HULA Member: Bet

Being a "working breed" I know how it is when humans actually think that your title means you have to "earn" your room and board. Just because humans have no sense and work most of their lives (and complain about it every night) doesn't mean we dogs have to do the same thing. We're much smarter than humans, after all, who cooks and cleans for us?

My friend Kara directed me to her human's post about Bet, a Border Collie that didn't really want to work either. Can't say that I blame her. Bet was offered a cushy position as resident house dog, foot warmer, and puppy wrangler. Her only duties were to make sure that future Iditarod pullers didn't stray too far from home and to look very cute on the couch. Apparently Bet didn't read her contract too carefully (and had she consulted with her Attorney at Claw I would have done pro bono work for her) because there is that pesky "other duties as required" claws. In this case, Bet was suppose to save her human in case a bear caught them stealing its food. Yeah, right, like one poor pup could fend off a gazillion pound angry and hungry bear!

While most pups would have just done what they were told, Bet has been under the careful guidance of Kara and found a unique way to get out of such a crappy job... by rolling in bear stuff.

Nice job Bet, and for your creative use of stinky poo to get out of an unsavory duty and be left back at the house on your comfy bed, I hereby award you with the coveted HULA award, and welcome you into the ranks of HULA as an honorary Siberian Husky.

Congratulations!

Feeling Better Today

Hi everyhusky (dog and girl-girl),

Thank you for your kind get well wishes and all. Thanks to the icky medicine, I'm feeling better today. I was actually able to sleep all night and not have to go out and go to the bathroom. The human woman is on some kind of kick though, ruining my whole routine and making me go out to pee all the time. She says that I hold it too much and need to pee as much as the gimpy suckup mututoes who pee at the drop of a hat (or anything else tossed on the floor).

I'm not too keen on the icky tasting pills though.
I have no idea who develops the "flavors" of these chewable pills, but it certainly isn't dogs. I'm thinking its probably a human who thinks that what they think is "beef" actually tastes like plastic-coated crap to us. Why can't they come out with some really tasty dog flavors like: dead bird that's been laying in the sun for three days, or fresh poop, or even kleenex flavored!

I do want to thank Sasha from the bottom of my tippy toes for suggesting liverwurst to the human woman. Sasha regularly gets on chat with my human woman pretending to be Sasha's human woman and she tells my human woman some "facts" that get me some awesome treats, and liverwurst is one of those fantastic treats. (I get on chat too and tell Sasha's human woman things too, and we both get on chat and tell Indy's human woman stuff. Check out his blog, his human woman actually baked him cookies this weekend, all because we told her to).

Anyhoo, the human woman went out and bought some liverwurst. See, another product with a stupid name! This stuff is FANTASTIC! It should be called livergreat because it is the most tasty thing I've ever had! She gushed those pills in that stuff and I didn't even taste that nasty stuff when it went down. I'm somewhat disappointed that I only get the pills once a day. Come on, I'm really sickly and need the pills more than that... or just the livergreat stuff, give me that, I'm sure there are healing properties in it.

The power was out for 5 whole hours yesterday. The human repair guys had to dig a hole (I'm saving that one for blogathon) and fixed the problem, so my cold air vents work now again.

Since I was a bit sickly, hot and cranky yesterday, I didn't get a chance to post one of the prizes for blogathon, so here it is:
Now you may be saying to yourself "what the heck is that?" Well, I'll tell you if you'd be quiet and stop asking silly questions.

This is an actual dog bootie worn during the 2007 Iditarod and autographed by Karen Ramstead! No, she didn't wear it, eesh, one of her fabulously Pretty Sled Dogs wore this booty as it pulled her sled through the beautiful Alaska wilderness in search of livergreat... ok, they probably didn't get livergreat on the trail, I'm sure it would have frozen, but it was actually worn and still smells like frito feet. I think there's some commemorative fur on the velcro at the top too.

Ok, I need to lay on the human woman's head and get some sleep. This being sickly has thrown off my whole blogathon napping schedule. Hack, hack... I'd feel better if someone would just donate 5 more dollars... just kidding.

What's In The Box!?

OOOH, I got mail today! Ok, it was actually addressed to the human woman, but it was actually for me. A really cool (famous) person sent us prizes for the upcoming blogathon!

Remember, sponsorship opens up in less than a week (give or take a few days), so you'll want to get out there and sponsor so you could possibly win some of the REALLY cool stuff that came in that box.

So you're probably saying "What's in the box???" Well, its not Gwyenth Paltro's head, but here's the greatest spoof on that movie.

Anyway, I digress.

I'm not going to tell you right away what is in the box, but I will give you some hints as to who sent it:
It came from Canada
It has famous fur on some of the items
The human that owns the dog that put the famous fur on some of the items also autographed some of the items.
If you happen to be in Pennsylvania on 5 August 2007, you can also meet this famous person.

Once I've registered for blogathon, and sponsorship opens up, I'll start posting pictures of all the cool stuff that can be won if you sponsor me (all proceeds go straight to Harnessed To Hope Northern Breed Rescue).

So, steal your human's credit cards and money, and get ready to win some prizes, help a good rescue, and enjoy my words of wisdom for 24 hours straight (48 posts, one post every half hour). I'm sure you won't regret losing a little bit of sleep.
